Oh Hi.

I managed to escape earth Hour without any accidents, that would be mainly be, not being trod on by Dad's size 9's, I actually found it very relaxing.
My health took a little step backward step recently, as my groin strain sidelined for a week, my enjoyable little walks.
Today, I was able to show Mum just how well I really am again, by twirling, and doing the 'Happy Dance' as my breakfast arrived , unfortunately this ended in my head hitting the food bowl in her hand and upending my breakie all over the living room carpet.
Of course I did my best to help her with the cleaning up, as usual.
I got a Flying Airball today from Marmeduke Ginger Bits. He will be arriving next month, to do a series of cat to cat interviews with Queen Divas for the magazine 'Cats in The City', very talented these cats, I didn't know he wrote as well as being an Art Critic!
He was also very excited to tell me he has an interview with Pussy Galore the James Bond film character. I didn't have the heart to tell him shes a human actress, still, I'm sure Honor will enjoy the catnip mouse he is bringing for her.
This news means I will have to get my paws in gear, and do a bit of pawtrait art for MGB's arrival, perhaps I can inspire Mum too.

Poppy's Quote for Wedneday

Yes, and I am making slow progress, and Mum says its very Good progress, Mr.Dish

Two Small Walks for Poppy..

Thank you all for your kind comments and well wishes, I'm Gradually getting better. I 've gone from being unable to get myself up without being lifted to my paws, to taking two 'slow but sure', little walks a day. This has cheered me up no end, as most patients will know, a hospital bed, no matter how comfortable gets to be a pretty boring place. Mind you that doesn't stop Mum keep puttting me back into it though, at every opportunity I think I have of escape. If I didn't know better I'd swear to it she has canine hearing senses, and Dad says, she has eyes in the back of her head, but I don't believe that!, as I've never seen any!
Oh, by the way, you small toy dogs have the canine gormet snacks maket really cornered! I found out this vital information, when I was off my food. Dad disappeared to the magic shops, and returned with the most delicious snacks to temp me, and they did, and these were specially made for you smaller girls and boys, You Lucky Dogs!

Poppy's Sunday Quote

The Hardest job kids face today, is learning good manners without seeing any
(Fred Astaire)
Same goes for Puppies, Fred
(Poppy)

Hi!, from my Sick bed..

Hi There, I'm afraid I've been going through a rough patch lately, must be old age, you know bad back, not feeling too good. Then the pain killers gave me a dodgy tum, and put me off my food, which as you know, just isnt me at all. Still on the bright side I'm managing to get myself up now a little better, but I still sleep a lot and have had a few nose bleeds too, which after consulting with my vet, so, depending on how things progress I may be off to see him again soon. The nice ladies in reception behind the big counter all know me now, and come out to speak to me, which is nice and cheers me up, as I like a bit of attention, and it does seem to restore my appetite for the snacks they keep on the counter top.... Mum and I have come to the conclusion that Dad has got a wonky sense of smell, he keeps insisting the doggy treats smell of liquorice, when Mum and I know they smell just like beef stock cubes, we really can't take him anywhere!!.. You can meet some really nice dogs and people at the vets too, and unfortunately some real barkers, and rude ones as well. The number of times I've been shocked there by someone introducing themselves unexpectly with their wet noses.. no manners..

Poppy's Friday Quote for Today, PQT

If wrinkles must be written upon our brows, let them not be written upon the heart.
The spirit should not grow old.

Playing with a ball is as much fun now, as when I was a Pup,
It just seems to move faster.

Vets & Cats from Cairo

Last night I had to take another little drive to see my vet, My temperature was running high, so I'm back on the meds ( something to look forward to, Yes, really do like them).
However, when the vet told Mum my stiffness in my back hips was a sudden onset of old age, Mum seem to be wearing, her sceptical face,(hard to stare at for too long I assure you) .
So this morning, we drove out to see the Cairo cat practiser, Mums been talking about. (See Previous Posts)
When I got there though there wasn't a cat anywhere, not one to be seen. Must have been his day off, late night out on the Tiles sort of thing. So instead I saw that nice lady Vav Simon, who treated my horsey friend Woozle. Vav let me wander around while she asked Mum and Dad some questions, I soon found the treats, experienced nose. Then a spot of fuss and some gentle movements and hey presto I could waggle my bottom again and wag my tail, and better still More Treats....

Poppy's Quote for Wednesday. PQT

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
(Martin Luther King)
I agree, thats why I still bark at the postman, because I know who he is.
(Poppy)

Ouch! I've tweeked Something Mum!

I'm afraid, I'm in the Wars lately. While trying to execute a high speed dash across the kitchen in pursuit of a fallen morsel, I slipped on the flooring, and seemed to have hurt my back or hips.
I heard Dad leaving a message on an answer phone, ( I knew it was about me, because he was looking at me, and smoothing my ears, while he was talking). He was talking to a catopractor, or someone from Cairo, either way, I'm not sure I like the sound of it. Its bad enough waiting for that visit of Marmaduke Ginger Bits, without having a Cat from Cairo practise on me, still if it fixes my back, and theres bound to be treats.....

PQT Poppys Quote for Today

"All of us need to grow continuously in our lives."
(Les Brown)
I do try and keep my weight up Les.
(Poppy)

Feeling Better, Highs and Lows.

Well I've just finished all my antibiotics, and although I must admit to feeling a tad better, I do feel rather depressed about the whole thing. Twice a day Mum would go to extreme lengths to hide my broken up tablets in all sorts of exotic gormet dog delights, which was pretty interesting and enjoyable in every way. I really miss those tablets!

Poppy's Quote for Today PQT

May the wind always be at your back, and the sun upon your face, and the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
(The movie "Blow")
I dont understand all that , but its sounds Like I might enjoy it.
(Poppy)

Vets Inspection.

Wednesday evening we all took a trip out in the car, I was a little surprised to find myself at the Vets clinic, for the results of my blood tests. I did get a lot of attention though, and wagged tails with a rather handsome retreiver, which might have accounted for my temperature being a little high , but much better than the previous weeks readings.
My blood works were good, apart from my white cell count being slightly raised, so I was given more antibiotics to make sure the infection I picked up passes away for good.
I don't think Mum will ever let me out again, she is quite convinced its my alfresco tastes that have got me into trouble! (I think it was that Furball)
The interesting thing for me at the Vets surgury was the two containers of 'Healthy' dog treats on the counter, where Dad paid the bill, they were delicious!!
Marmaduke Ginger Bits, sent another Flying Furball to say hes been snowed in, so his trip will be delayed, and he will inform me in due course of his new arrival ETA .

Poppy's Quote for Today; PQT

He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.
- Arabian proverb

Off to see The Vet

Oh Dear, I wasn't feeling too special Yesterday. I was Shivering and Shaking.,so I was Whisked promptly off to see my Vet. I was soon seen, and seemed to cause some amusement when after appearing to be fading fast, I made a miraculous recovery when the Vet started making russeling noises while opening a syringe packet. Its amazing what power the crackle of a presumed treat wrapper can inspire, so when I popped my paws and head up on the counter to check, they knew I was already starting to feel better. I was given an antibiotic injection and a course of tablets to take, as I was running a high temperature.
Now I'm thinking, can a Dog catch Cat flu from a Furball? If so Mr.M.GingerBits is in for a piece of my mind when he arrives.

Wizzing Furballs

I Received yet another Flying Airball today.

Re previous post; That's a Furball that comes by airmail if you were wondering, It was from The famous Cat, and feared Art Critic ‘Marmaduke Ginger Bits’. He would like an interview with me to discuss my art, for his new urban magazine, Cats in The City.

I was blissfully stretched out asleep, and unfortunately as well as the shock, it landed right in one of my ears and took a lot of shaking to get out. Sadly for me this was witnessed by Mum who promptly went into the ear cleaning routine, which despite my best protestations was duly carried out. Thanks to 'that Cat', I now have the cleanest ears of any Labrador.

When I finally retrieved the furball from under the sofa, and unpicked it;
The message read ; Flying overnight on the Catseye. Two weeks next Thursday. Remember to have a suitable litter tray available, for my forthcoming visit, as I Do Not venture Outdoors in the Country Ever. Expect to see some new works to View. MGB
Well I never!, they are pretty snooty these city cats aren't they! above is a pawtrait, I found of him in a book in the library, 'Famous Cats of Our Era'.

Poppy's Quotes for Today.PQT

Little by little one walks Far....
(Peruvian Proverb)
Doing the Best you can at this moment, puts you in the Best place for the next moment..
(Oprah Winfrey)

Paws for Reflection

Well, I've been keeping my New Years resolutions... pretty much.
I've been taking Mum out for brisk walks at least twice a day, every Day,
( shes not puffing quite so much up the hill climbs),
What me, Oh no, I don't Puff, I just hang my tongue out, occassionly.
I'm still dribbling, I know!, but I cant seem to help it, all those Gormet food smells....
I still bark at the Postie, But I am refraining from grabbing the letters,
I just pick them up from the carpet, and bring them in to Mum.
( I've always done that little Job).
